After four decades of rocking ‘n’ rolling, the megastar band Smokie is coming to Port Elizabeth this September to make some noise.
The band missed Port Elizabeth in 2008 and 2011 during its previous two sold-out tours of the country, but now for the first time the city has a suitable venue in the form of The Boardwalk’s new International Convention Centre.
Smokie will also be playing at other Sun International-managed complexes during their tour – at Grand West in Cape Town, and Carnival City in Gauteng.
Self-confessed rock fan, Brett Hoppe, The Boardwalk’s new general manager can’t wait to see the band perform live for the first time.
“When we bid successfully for the casino licence we said the International Convention Centre would attract international acts and events.
In less than a year since it opened we have hosted Jonathan Butler and Tevin Campbell, as well as international conventions and events,” says Hoppe.
Smokie fans can look forward to rocking to chart-topping hits such as “Living Next Door to Alice”, “Lay Back in the Arms of Someone” and “A Winter’s Tale”.
Feel inspired to rock ‘n’ roll with your friends and family to Smokie at The Boardwalk on Sunday, September 29 from three in the afternoon.
