The Eastern Cape High Heels for Horns date is Saturday September 24.
There will be an event in St Francis Bay where we can show our support for the Save the Rhino campaign.
The 5 km or 10 km walk/run will start at 09:00 from Port St Francis, where the event will finish as well.
St Francis Field has given special permission to walk through their beautiful air field – 5 km walkers will take a loop through the Air Field and go back to the Port and the 10 km participants will go through the Irma Booysen Reserve, via Da Gama Road, onto the beach, down to Shark Point and back to Port St Francis.
All ages and fitness levels will be able to participate – and due to the safe “off road” event, walkers will be allowed to swop their heels for takkies once they reach St Francis Drive!
Bring a well marked bag to put your shoes in and the event organisers will keep it for you. A few fun prizes will be up for grabs – one for the most outrageous outfit and the one who finishes the walk in heels.
Grab yourself a meal at any of the restaurants at Port St Francis (or enjoy your own picnic basket on Squid Square) while we wait for everybody to finish.
As it is also Heritage Day an educational talk about Wildlife Conservation and Marine Conservation will take place at 13:00 in the Ski Boat Club until it is time for the Heritage Day Fun Fishing Competition from the jetties which will start at 14:00 and finish at 16:00 (Teams of four @ R100 or R20 per child – bait will be provided).
So dust off your heels, practice that walk and see you there!
Entry fee: R20 per person towards Save the Rhino.
