The DA will report the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality to the Public Protector for purchasing ANC paraphernalia with state money.
It means that the Municipality is taking money meant for service delivery, and is instead spending it on promoting the ANC.
The Herald reported yesterday morning that the Municipality purchased ANC t-shirts, ANC posters for by-elections, ANC banners for various occasions and ANC electioneering pamphlets.
The Municipality spent more than R300 000 on promoting the ANC in a three-year period between 2008 and 2011.
The Municipal spokesperson lied to the Herald, denying that this expenditure ever occurred, even though the Herald has documentary proof of this expenditure.
This looting of service delivery money for ANC campaigning must end. Nelson Mandela Bay is the Metro in South Africa with the worst service delivery statistics. The Metro needs every cent it can get to be spent on making life better for its people.
The Public Protector must investigate, the ANC must repay the stolen money and the implicated officials and politicians must be fired for good.
