The South African swim team arrived in Shanghai, China over the weekend to compete in the World Swimming Championships.
The 10 K marathon swim will be the official 2012 Olympic qualifying event with Chad Ho, the current world 10 K swim champion and the iconic Natalie Du Toit both being selected to compete in the event.
Both swimmers are in fine form after competing in Europe recently. Natalie swam her fastest time ever for the 10 K and went under 1 hour 50 minutes in a race in Portugal.
They will be joined by Troyden Prinsloo and Jessica Roux. Roux is the current Steers Marina Mile champion and swam her first ever 10 K event at Marina Martinique in 2010.
Both du Toit and Ho will be aiming at qualifying for their second Olympic Games after they represented South Africa in the inaugural 10 K swim at the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
