The Pietermaritzburg High Court has convicted and sentenced Sifiso Ngubane (23) and Nkosinathi Mngadi (29) to life imprisonment for murder of farmer Peter Hackland (61).
They also received 15 years for robbery and eight years for assault.
On 7 May 2013 at about 12:30 the accused went to Cromleigh Farm and demanded cash from Hackland before killing him.
They then assaulted his daughter and employees and fled the scene with cash.
Peter sustained a gunshot wound on the chest and died at the scene.
Through investigation the Police were able to locate the whereabouts of the suspects and they were arrested in Xopo and Vryheid on 22 October 2013 and were charged accordingly.
The firearm that was used to commit the crime was also recovered in their possession.
The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni applauded the Ixopo members for their hard work and dedication and making sure that the criminals face the law.
