The Kouga U/12 Cricket team came 4th out of 8 districts in this years’ Eastern Province Inter-District Cricket Festival held in Cradock last week.
The team played two 50 over matches and one 20 over match.
One of the most exciting matches was on day 1 of the festival. Kouga needed 183 in their allotted 50 overs to win and reached the target of 183 with 9 overs to spare to win the match!
The team displayed good team work and determination with Lanroe Rens (77 runs n.o.) and Jayden Groenewald (17 n.o.) the batters who ensured an exciting victory.
In comparison to other districts Kouga fielded a much younger team but our boys showed that they could compete and win.
Lots of experience was gained during the Festival and this will definitely improve cricket in the Kouga region.
“We would like to thank Kouga Cricket Performance Centre (KCPC) and parents in preparing the team to take part in the festival. Thank you to all our sponsors for making it possible to attend the Festival,” said Tanja Bester on behalf of the cricketers.
The team consisted of Coach Ralton Fortuin, Eden Lawack (Clarkson Primary), Dewaan Palmer (Mclachlan Primary School), Germaine Munnik (Clarkson Primary School), JD van Zyl (Jeffreys Bay Primary School), Tkeeno Meiring (Mclachlan Primary School), Roberto Mcmaster(Kruisfontein Primary School),Ethan Goeda(Kruisfontein Primary School),Lanroe Rens (Stulting Primay School), Rowan Bailey (Victory Christian School), Jonathan Bester (Victory Christian School), Danico Marè (Stulting Primary School) and Jayden Groenewald (Stulting Primary School)
