The first of the voter registration weekends started in Jeffreys Bay yesterday with most of the voting stations opening on time.
Problems were experienced at Paradise Beach where the IEC ran out of registration forms and and the new voting station at the Madiba Bay creche opened an hour late.
Several voters were disgruntled to find they were no longer on the voters roll, despite having voted in the previous election and a number of incorrect addresses were also picked up.
The warm weather turned for the worse in the late afternoon and a thunderstorm developed with strong winds that blew away the IEC tent in Ocean View.
The leader of the DA in the Eastern Cape, Ahtol Trollip was visiting Ocean View at the time and the adverse weather did little to deter the scores of DA supporters who rushed to go and greet Trollip.
The voter registration weekend continues today and residents are urged to visit their voting station to ensure they are correctly registered to vote in the upcoming Municipal elections.
