In a statement the Weather Office said: “A steep upper trough with the ridging Atlantic high pressure system will result once again in rainy and cold conditions from the west on Monday afternoon. The models are looking at significant falls between 25 and 40mm of rain along the south coast between Monday night and Tuesday afternoon. Residential areas in low lying areas as well as informal settlements will be most affected”.
Very cold conditions will also set in from the west on Monday afternoon with snowfalls expected over the south western high ground (Kouga, Tsitsikama and Baviaanskloof mountains) spreading to the northern and eastern high ground (Sneeuberg Winterberg and Drakensburg) in the evening to Tuesday afternoon.
There is a 100% chance of rain today with 30% probability of this rain exceeding 20 mm with more rain expected tomorrow.
06/08/2012: Snowfalls are expected over the south western mountains and higher grounds on the escarpment on Monday.
06-07/08/2012: Very cold conditions are expected on Monday and Tuesday in the interior.
06-07/08/2012: Heavy rain is expected along the south coast and adjacent interior from Monday afternoon into Tuesday.
