In the aftermath of the heavy rain the Eastern Cape has experienced during the past few days it can be expected that many road related problems like “fresh” potholes will make their appearance.
There is a possibility of more flooding of road sections throughout the province and the more dangerous collapsing of road shoulders, which sometimes only appear a few days after heavy rain.
For complaints and the reporting of potholes on Eastern Cape Roads the public should phone the Public Works hotline on 0800 864 951. This number should also be used if road shoulders collapse, flooding and for trees or debris causing danger.
For general road user complaints like accidents, suspected drunken driving, the misuse of state vehicles or dangerous driving, suspected overloading of vehicles or the flaunting of road safety regulations, the public can phone the Provincial Transport Service Centre on 0800 644 644.
