The Weather Office has issued a warning that heavy rainfall is expected in places the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro and surrounds for the rest of today spilling into tomorrow.
Localized flash flooding is expected in the area between tonight and tomorrow midday.
The rain over the area will gradually start clearing from the west towards Saturday evening.
The rain has been caused by a steep upper air trough/cut off low accompanied by a deep layer of tropical moisture, that started on Thursday and will be moving out to sea on Saturday.
A banana shaped high pressure system has been feeding low level moisture into the system. Hence the presence of low cloud which has caused disruptions to aviation.
