The Jeffreys Bay Police have issued a warning that false $ 100 dollar notes are being circulated in the town.
A restaurant received one of these notes as payment for a meal, according to Warrant Office Els from the Jeffreys Bay Police.
“The forgery is extremely well done and business owners must be wary of accepting foreign currency”, said Els. “The 100 should be in silver and on the the forgery is not, otherwise the note looks just like the original”.
There have been no additional incidents reported as yet, but the public are requested to remain alert when customers try to pay in foreign currency.
