There is going to be a festive atmosphere at the Marina Mile this December, with plenty on offer for swimmers and spectators alike.
The Marina Mile, presented by Nicholas Melck, will take place in the pristine salt water canals of Marina Martinique, regarded as one of the best open water swim venues in the world, on December 20.
The day’s activities will start with the Double Mile, which will be followed by the 500m as well as the bank-to-bank swims.
The Marina Mile will then take place with prize money up for grabs, compliments of event sponsor Nicholas Melck.
“The Marina Mile is one of the highlights on the December holiday programme and there are people who come and holiday in Jeffreys Bay just to come and swim the Mile,” says Melck.
The following day a new event, the Dash for Cash, will take place.
This event will have a social, as well as a serious swimmer component, with everyone swimming a 100m in the Marina.
However, the serious swimmers will have to swim a number of heats after each other to try and win the R3000 prize money that is up for grabs.
The Dash for Cash will be a test of speed and endurance and will be a great event for the spectators to watch.
There is an opportunity for people who would like to have stalls at the Marina Mile this year. Interested parties can contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
