International Coastal Clean Up is dedicated to the improvement of beaches, coastal regions and surrounding areas throughout the world.
In South Africa, it falls during the Clean-up SA Week 14 – 19 September 2015, with Recycling SA Day on Friday 18 Sep 2015.
It’s aim is to increase awareness by educating the community about the social, environmental and economic benefits of recycling.
“The Jeffreys Bay community is invited to take part in this International Event and assist us in a Coastal Clean Up of the Jeffreys Bay Coastline from Kabeljous River Mouth to Paradise Beach on Saturday 19th from 0830-1030.
The Event was registered with the Kouga Municipality as they will also play an important role on the day,” said Gerhardt Fouche, one of the organisers.
The day will continue after the clean-up with a public braai and local musicians providing entertainment along with an interesting programme to be staged in the parking area opposite the Spur from 10:30 onwards.
Various Arts and Crafts stalls will be on display with entertainment also being lined up for children. Families are welcome to bring their picnic baskets and come and enjoy the day.
