Imagine waking up with the sun peering over the pristine canals of Marina Martinique and the call of the birds in your ears. Your windows are open to let in the fresh air and not desecrated with burglar bars and other security measures.
This is the lifestyle on Martinique, one of South Africa’s best kept secrets. Kilometers of sea water canals have ensured that the Marina has become the home of open water swimming in the Eastern Cape and summer time sees the local swimmers hard at training in their “big swimming pool”.
Fishing, boating, paddling or having a stroll through the nature reserve are just some of the activities on offer in the exclusive lifestyle resort that enjoys 24/7 armed security.
The property market on the Marina has withstood the carnage seen elsewhere. Three stands on the waterfront in Phase 1 of the Martinique sold for R 900 000 recently, while the more undeveloped Phase 2 has seen waterfront stands sell for around R 400 000.
These prices compare very favourably with prices of beachfront plots in Jeffreys bay where an offer of R 4 000 000 was rejected for a top end plot. Plots with a sea view in Wavecrest are selling for around R 500 000 while the back stands in the Marina are selling for just under R 400 000 on Phase 1.
When a Martinique stand comes on the market for R 220 000 it will not hang around for long. A permanent view of the canals on a 646 m2 stand on Phase 2 at that price can only be described as a bargain and a good investment. For more information on this stand, view our Property page.
