The annual Woodlands Dairy Race, in the scenic town of Jeffreys Bay provided fitness and fun to just over 800 runners and walkers as well as spectators on Saturday, 2 January 2016.
This race is the first event on the Eastern Province Athletics Calendar and kicked off with a 15km league race at 6:30am.
Says Tinus Pretorius, Sales General Manager at Woodlands Dairy: “What better way for an athlete to start the New Year, than in the beautiful town of Jeffreys Bay, while earning league points.
Every year athletes from across South Africa make the town their holiday destination and participate in the Woodlands Dairy Race. This year we even had a few overseas participants.”
The 15km race was followed by a 5km trail run on the premises of Mentors Country Estate and a 600M Mini Moo Dash for children 9 years and younger.
The winners of the various categories received a mixture of cash rewards and First Choice® product hampers.
Charné Bosman from the Nedbank Running Club was the overall female winner and Melikhaya Frans from Ikhamva AC the overall male winner.
