The body of a 67-year-old man was found by his gardener in his house on a smallholding in Rocklands (between Jeffreys Bay and Uitenhage) on Monday morning 29 April 2019.
Just after 8.30 am, the gardener came to work and and went to the shed to get ready for work. He noticed that his bicycle was not there and he went to the house to make inquiries.
The door and security gate was open and after receiving no response to calling out the owner, he returned to the yard.
The gardener became suspicious when the owner didn’t come out and he went back to the door, calling out his name.
After no response, he went inside and found the owner lying on the living room floor with his hands and feet bound.
There was also a wound on his head. The gardener ran to the neighbour’s house for help and the Police were called.
The house was ransacked and the safe had been opened. It is unclear at this stage what was taken. The Police are investigating a case of murder and house robbery.
The Police are appealing to the community to assist in their investigation and if anyone can provide information about the suspect/s, Captain Chris Rowan from the Mount Road Cluster Detective Trio Task Team may be contacted on 082 442 1457.
