Watching the Trans Baviaans finishers at the Marquee tent, with fire pits and craft beer on tap, after supporting the Springboks in their quest to beat Argentina – Fountains Mall is certainly the place to be on Saturday evening.
The Trans Baviaans is a 24 hr mountain bike single stage race of 230 km from Willowmore in the heart of the Eastern Cape Karoo through the world heritage site and remote Baviaans Kloof and finishes at Fountains Mall in Jeffreys Bay, the surfing capital of South Africa.
Simply put, it is the toughest single stage race in the world and there will be a party like atmosphere at the finish at Fountains Mall.
The evenings festivities will begin at 5 PM when the Springboks take on Argentina and the game will be screened live at E-Street Cafe, the home of good food in the Mall.
The Springboks wont have it all their own way against a determined Argentinian team but should have enough fire power with Bryan Habana expected to return to the starting XV to add some experience to a new look backline.
E-Street Cafe is the place to watch the game and one lucky JBay News reader will win a R 400 food voucher to take some mates to support the Boks and enjoy the festive vibe and great cuisine at E-Street.
Make sure to read JBay News tomorrow to find out how you could become a winner!
There is also a Rugby and Trans Baviaans Special on at E-Street with a free glass of wine or a beer on offer with every main course purchased.
After the game, it will be time to support the cyclists as they complete the gruelling Trans Baviaans.
Darling craft beer and gluhwein will be on offer at the Marquee tent while a number of fire pits will add some warmth and lots of atmosphere to the occasion.
There will also be a coffee station for those who need a caffeine boost to stay awake and support the Trans Baviaans cyclists as they are expected to be coming in all night long.
“Trans Baviaans is a great event and is a tourism boost to Jeffreys Bay. It will be great to see the locals come and support the cyclists up at Fountains Mall on Saturday evening,” said Marius Malherbe from E-Street Cafe.
“E-Street Cafe will be open until 11 PM on Saturday, and the new finish zone of the Trans Baviaans will be buzzing with supporters and spectators alike. Its going to be a great evening up at Fountains Mall,” added Malherbe.
