Chiefs on the rampage against the Kings

The Chiefs out scored the Southern Kings seven tries to two in their Round 3 Vodacom Super Rugby match at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Saturday.

The Southern Kings showed great fighting spirit in the first half as both teams exchanged penalties. It was however the Chiefs that crossed the line for the first try of the match when Sam Cane crossed the line after some superb defence from Southern Kings winger, Malcolm Jaer.

Damian Mckenzie and Taleni Seu added two more tries, before Southern Kings hooker Edgar Marutlulle crossed the line after a well executed lineout drive. First half ended 17 – 27 for the visitors.

After a slow start to the second half, the Chiefs crossed the line in quick succession through tries from Aaron Cruden and Charlie Ngatai.

Marutlulle scored his second before Cane and Glen Fisiiahi added two more to take the game 24 – 58.
