The Kouga Municipality has laid a charge of arson with the South African Police, as it suspected that somebody shooting a flare caused the fire that has raged since Saturday in St Francis Bay and Cape St Francis.
Fire-fighters are still battling fires in Cape St Francis but generally the situation has been brought under control.
Helicopters are still dropping water and a light rain has begun to fall at Cape St Francis.

“Electricity to Cape St Francis has been restored but we cannot guarantee that it will remain on, depending on what the fire does,” said Laura-Leigh Randall from the Kouga Municipality.
Residents can drop off water and eye drops for the fire-fighters at the Spar in St Francis Bay. There is also a need for pet food as many residents who evacuated their homes, did not take food with them for their animals.
