A huge fire broke out on the piece of land owned by Eskom yesterday (23 January 2016).
The land adjoins St Francis Bay and fears were expressed that once the wind swings to the West, homes in Sea Vista could be under threat.
By late last night, the Kouga Fire Department was still battling to contain the fire. Thankfully a downpour of rain helped the situation.
It is not known at this stage what caused the fire and there are no reports of any injuries to people.
The have been dozens of bush fires in Jeffreys Bay and surrounds over the past two months, with Wavecrest, Paradise Beach and Jubilee Farm all bearing the brunt of the dry conditions, which combined with really hot weather has increased the risk of fires breaking out.
