Armed robbery at Baywest Mall

Ster Kinekor has moved to assure movie-goers that their safety is a top priority for the company.

This, after three armed men robbed Ster Kinekor management offices at Baywest Mall on Sunday night during which a manager was assaulted.

Ster Kinekor says the suspects accosted a manager and a cashier in an office where they were busy cashing up at the end of a shift.

They robbed them of the cash in the office and then tied up the cashier while one of the suspects took the manager to his office, where he was forced to open his safe from which they removed the cinema’s and the manager’s belongings, including cellphones and a watch.

The manager was later assaulted when he told the robbers that the keys for the other safes, including a drop safe, were not kept on site.

Ster Kinekor says movie-goers were unaffected by the robbery and were unaware that anything had happened until they saw the police tape outside the movie theatres.
