Arrests made for Mthatha double murder

Police detectives made a breakthrough in the double murder of Carl George and Jacqueline Miller, both 20 years old.

The bodies of the couple were recovered by the South African Police on Sunday, 10 May 2015 at about 18:30 at the Mthatha Dam, just outside Mthatha. Miller was found fully clothed, while her boyfriend was found with only his socks on.

Police believe the couple may have been kidnapped and killed elsewhere before their bodies were dumped in the dam, which supplies drinking water to various communities in Mthatha.

Three male suspects aged between 19 to 22 years old were arrested on Wednesday night at 23:30 by a task team, consisting of local detectives and intelligence officers.

The suspects were found in possession of vehicle keys and clothing items belonging to the victims. The vehicle belonging to one of the victims was found at Kwa-Link, a village near Mthatha dam on Monday.
