Load shedding for South Africa this weekend

Rolling black outs will hit South Africa this weekend as Eskom scrambles to build up reserve energy supplies for the week ahead.

“The power system is extremely constrained today due to unforeseen technical problems at power stations, depleted water reserves at our peaking power stations which use water to generate electricity and depleted diesel reserves to fire up the open-cycle gas turbines,” said Eskom in a statement.
As a result Eskom has implemented stage 1 load shedding today as of 13h00, until 20h00 this evening.
Load shedding will recommence again tomorrow and Sunday at 09h00 in order to build up reserves for the week ahead.
Reports of another cracked silo at Majuba has led the DA to challenge Eskom as to the true nature of the problems with South Africa’s energy supply.
