Great news for South Africans travelling to Kenya

The Kenya High Commission has advised that South African passport holders don’t have to appear in person in Pretoria to give biometric information.

This is big relief as it would have added a lot of time and expense for anyone travelling to Kenya.
South Africans still need to obtain a visa in advance if travelling to Kenya from 1 September but now travel agents are able to help you with this visa.
The processing period for short-stay visas of less than 30 days will be five working days with the High Commission so please keep in mind you still need to get the passport to Pretoria and back.
Yellow fever has been controlled in Kenya but travellers are advised that yellow fever certificates are still required in order to enter the country.

The following are needed to apply for the visa:

  • Passport – valid for 6 months
  • Completed visa application form
  • 2 passport photographs
  • Return airline ticket
  • Invitation letter from the host in the Republic of Kenya
