The South African Police have arrested suspects for the two murders that shook the once peaceful coastal village of Jeffreys Bay over the weekend.
A 44 year-old man was arrested for the alleged murder of a woman, Nobulelo Gadu.
The incident occurred on Saturday evening at about 18:45 in Griffith Mxenge Street, Ocean View.
“It is alleged that an argument between the victim and suspect occurred and the suspect stabbed the victim. She passed away on the scene,” said Gerda Swart from the South African Police.
The suspect was arrested and he will appear in the Humansdorp Magistrates’ Court on a charge of murder.
Police also arrested 18 year old Damian Peters from Pellsrus for the murder of Robbie Paver who was fatally stabbed outside the Havannah bar in down town Jeffreys Bay in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Peters appeared in the Humansdorp Magistrate’s Court yesterday and was remanded in custody until 1 August for a formal bail hearing, according to the Police.
Residents of Jeffreys Bay are still in shock over the incidents with many wondering whether crime is getting out of control in the town as there have been many cases of housebreakings being shared over social media, in addition to the violent murders that have occurred.
