Thornhill police are investigating a case of culpable homicide following an accident on the N2 late on Thursday afternoon.
Warrant Officer Basil Seekoei says an elderly farmer was killed in the accident which happened a kilometre from the Van Stadens River Bridge.
“A 69 year old farmer from the area died at the scene. It is alleged that two vehicles collided, one with a Venter trailer which hooked onto the truck. Both vehicles rolled. Four people were injured” he said.
Seekoei informed Algoa FM news this morning that the farmer’s wife died of her injuries last night in hospital.
The names of the deceased will be released later today.
