JSE hits record high

The Johannesburg Stock Exchange ended on a record high yesterday after the all share index ended on 48,404.90.


The JSE has shown growth of nearly 27 % over the past year.

Metal prices rose yesterday with copper hitting a more than 3-week high, boosting mining shares such as African Rainbow Minerals.

Gold mining shares gained 2.37% and there was a 1.83% rise in resources shares.

Gold had risen 0.96% to sell at $1291.60 an ounce as investors believed low prices would increase physical demand from China.

The New York Stock Exchange also ended on a record high yesterday, signalling good news for investors.
