Red tide still thick in JBay

The red tide has moved inshore at Jeffreys Bay and the water is literally red at the Point surf break.

JBay local and national team surfer Emma Smith took to the air and observed the red tide from above.

It is unknown just low long it will take for the red tide to dissipate.

The “lumo” shows at night have kept locals enthralled with shimmering seas and bright blue waves breaking when darkness falls.

Numerous dead fish have washed up on Kabeljous beach and surfers have reported that the red tide really stinks and even a shower after a surf cannot remove the smell.
