Emma wins SA Champs

JBay local Emma Smith, claimed the title of u20 South African Surfing Champion in the girls division this weekend at the Cool Shoe South African Surfing Champs in Durban.

The Billabong sponsored surfer, who represented South Africa at u18 level in Panama, competed in the final heat against Chanelle Botha, Anoush Zakarian and Nicole Pallet, who all represented South African in the at the recent ISA World Junior Championships in Nicaragua.

Smith won with a 7’5 and 6’8 on the judge’s scorecards at the end of the final.

Another JBay surfer Dylan Lightfoot placed 3rd in the u20 Boys division, while Faye Zoetmulder, Gina Smith and Steven Sawyer each made the semi finals in their divisions.
