St Francis Bay bridge has collapsed

The moment that everyone knew would happen but has been hoping would’nt took place in the early hours of the morning when the temporary bridge over the Sand River collapsed.

The collapse has effectively cut off St Francis Bay from the rest of the world as it will take time to construct a pedestrian crossing over the swollen Sand River.

Surely this time Government must build a proper bridge over the river and not a temporary structure that will collapse again at some time in the future?

The roads in the region took a pounding yesterday and drivers are urged to take extreme caution on the roads in Jeffreys Bay as there are big pot holes lurking underwater.

The traffic circle on the road to Aston Bay is just one of the many hazardous areas in the wider Jeffreys Bay at present.

More rain is expected today and tomorrow in the Kouga.
