South African wins 5 Km swim at World Junior Champs

South Africa’s Michelle Weber won the 5km World Junior Open Water Swimming Championships in convincing fashion on the first day of the inaugural event in Welland, Ontario, Canada yesterday over two young Germans Lena-Sophie Bermel and Patricia-Lucia Wartenberg.

In other results, KZN’s Chris McGlynn finished in 21st place in the Junior Boys 7.5km race, clocking a time of 1:32:13.80, followed by Gauteng’s Gareth Beech in 36th position in a time of 1:35:49.60.
