Mountain Bike race in St Francis Bay

The third St Francis Bay MTB Challenge will take place this Sunday, 27 November. The new and improved routes has literally no sand and will be a joy to ride. This sanctioned race must be the most scenic route in the Eastern Cape.

The entry fees are R30 (5km), R40 (15km), R80 (35km) and R120 (70km) plus R35 for day licences for the 30km and 70km races, for non-CSA (Cycling SA) members. Great prizes and lucky draws are up for grabs, including a Commencal Bike worth R5 000.
Entries are limited due to the sensitivity of the area. The cut off date for online entries is Friday November 17 and entries received after this date will have to pay a R30 late entry fee (not applicable to the 5km ride).
Late registration and number collection will take place at the Cape St Francis Resort on Saturday November 26 between 16:00 and 18:00. Cyclists can check out a section of the route towards the Wild Side at 17:00 to be back in time for the pre-race party at 19:00.
Late registration and number collection on the day will be between 06:30 and 08:00. No registrations will be received after 08:00.

The 5km route is within the safety of the St Francis Links. It is fairly flat on the brick-paved roads, suitable for young children. The 15km route is an easy flat route out of the Links onto gravel roads through indigenous bush.
The 35km route is the ideal route for the reasonably fit occasional cyclist and includes indigenous forest, jeep and single track with plenty of sea views. The new 70km route has 22km of dirt road towards Oyster Bay after which it is only single track and jeep track with unimpeded views over the ocean. This distance will be hard but enjoyable.
