Sewage spill under control

Residents were expecting yet another sewage spill into the ocean at Main Beach this week as Municipal officials constructed a dam wall at the Ski Boat club.
The reason why a spill occurred was due to the upgrading of the Koraal Street pump station with an additional pump.

A sewage upgrade in Jeffreys Bay is long overdue.

However, once the Municipality realised that a spill was occurring from the La Mer pump station, the attempt to install the additional pump was immediately halted.
The pump station at Koraal Street will now be upgraded early next year.
Many residents of Wavecrest have been complaining about the stench of sewage in the suburb. This is due to insufficient sewage removal trucks being operational and the Democratic Alliance (DA) have taken the matter up with the Municipal officials.

December is upon us and we cannot afford to greet holiday makers with the rank smell of sewage in the town or sewage dams on the Main Beach.
