Dylan through to Round 3 in Bali

The Oakley World Pro Junior Bali moved to Keramas for day three of competition. Bali’s famous right hand reef break pumped out 4 – 6 foot sets for the remaining heats of the Men’s Round 1 and the first four heats of the man-on-man elimination Round 2.

Dylan Lightfoot drives off the bottom.

Darmaputra Tonjo (IND) caused the upset of the event thus far, eliminating number two seed Nat Young (USA) in Round 2, sending Young home with a last place finish. Tonjo came bursting out of the gates, netting an 8.00 (out of a possible 10) on his opening ride for a series of super fast snaps and carves. Young was left hunting a 6.67 and caught a wave in the final minutes of the heat, but came up short only managing a 6.10.
Dylan Lightfoot (ZAF) took down fellow South African Beyrick De Vries and Arashi Kato in their Round 1 battle. Hailing from Jeffreys Bay, South Africa, Lightfoot is no stranger to reeling right handers and he put that knowledge to good use at Keramas today.
“Keramas is one of the funnest waves in the world,” Lightfoot said. “There’s a lot of waves, but you just have to pick the right ones. I was lucky to get some good waves at the beginning, which gave me a lot of confidence for the rest of the heat.”

Closing out the day was Oakley’s South African ripper Shaun Joubert who ended Deivid Silva’s (BRA) campaign for the Oakley World Pro Junior Title in the final heat of the day.
