Watch how the bridge over the Sand River falls apart under the power of flood water. Dramatic footage shows how the road cracked and then collapsed into the river.
There is also footage of how the St Francis community, together with the Kouga Municipality handled a serious emergency with calmness and a professional attitude.

Well done to all the volunteers who helped people over the river and ensured there was no loss of life. The Kouga Municipality is in the process of building a temporary road across the Sand River to enable a flow of traffic to the St Francis community who are cut off from the rest of the world.
