Floods in Eastern Cape

The weather is clearing according to the latest weather predictions as reports of flooding are received from all over the Kouga, as well as other towns and cities in the Eastern Cape.

Some areas in Port Elizabeth are under water

The rainfall figures, supplied by Weather Guru, yesterday morning are as follows:
Port Elizabeth Airport 4 mm +40 mm (last night to 8am) = 44 mm
Port Alfred 28mm +22 mm (last night to 8am) = 50 mm
East London 37mm +42 mm (last night to 8am) = 79mm
Patensie 1 mm +14 mm (last night to 8am) = 15mm
Joubertina 4 mm + 6 mm(last night to 8am) = 10 mm
Severe flooding has been reported in East London with large chunks of hail floating around in the Vincent Park shopping center. A section of the N 2 between Port Elizabeth and Jeffreys Bay was also under water for awhile yesterday.

The average level of the dams in the Kouga is 84.23 % with the Churchill Dam now 87.93 % full and the Impofu Dam at 62.04 %.

All the other dams are overflowing and there is no reason why the Department of Water Affairs will not lift water restrictions later this month.
