A man who shot himself on Thursday on Main Beach in Jeffreys Bay was a suspect in a murder case in Gauteng.
Lieutenant Colonel Priscilla Naidu said that 24 year old Maxwell Cowley shot himself in the head and died later in hospital. It emerged later on that Cowley was wanted for the murder of his mother Maria Cowley on Wednesday in Gauteng.
“We traced his vehicle registration number to Douglasdale. When we contacted the police in Douglasdale they told us they were looking for him for the murder of his mum”.
The motive for the murder was not known.
Naidu says Cowley’s father lives in Humansdorp but he did not make any contact with him before shooting himself.
