Natalie Du Toit to swim SA Champs in Jeffreys Bay

Marina Martinique is a hive of activity as the estate gears up to host the SA Open Water Swim Championships.
The event kicks off tomorrow with the 10 K marathon swim, which starts at 9 am. One of South Africa’s most beloved swimmers, Natalie Du Toit is already in town and is prepared for the event, which is doubling up as a World Championship trial.

Natalie du Toit will be swimming on Sunday and Monday at Marina Martinique.

“This is the first time I am swimming in Jeffreys Bay and am really excited about swimming in the canals at Marina Martinique”, said Natalie.
“The hospitality we have received has been awesome and I want to thank the Marina Martinique homeowners and the Jeffreys Bay swimmers for the use of the venue and for taking such good care of us”.

Natalie will be joined in the 10 K swim by Jessica Roux, the winner of the 2010 Steers Marina Mile.
“I have been training in Durban for the past few months and am really excited about the 10 K tomorrow” said Jessica. “The level of competition is going to be extremely high and I am expecting a really fast race”.
Jessica Roux, the queen of the Marina Mile will be up against Natalie du Toit in the 10 K. With her is Michael Marais, the EP 10 K champion.

The men’s race is also going to be world class with Olympian Chad Ho ready to defend his South African title against Troyden Prinsloo. Chad is the current 10 K World Champion and is a genuine medal contender for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
With a water temperature of 20 degrees in the Marina Martinique canals and the houses offering protection from the wind, a fast race is expected in the 10 K with the swimmers aiming at going under two hours.
There is no entry charge for spectators wanting to watch the swimming at Marina Martinique and the action starts at 9 am with the 10 K swim. The 3 K swims start at 1 pm tomorrow.
There will be a lucky draw for spectators with accommodation prizes worth over R 5000 up for grabs.
