The Jeffreys Bay Open water swimmers will be joined by some of the Port Elizabeth extreme swimmers for a training session in the canals of Marina Martinique tomorrow morning.
Everybody will meet at the gate entrance to Phase 2 of the Marina at 9 am. There will be various distances to be swum, ranging from 1,1 K to 5k with some swimmers attempting around 8 K.
The open water swim season will carry on right through winter for the first time ever with events planned for Port Elizabeth and Marina Martinique over the next 6 months.
The J’Bay swim duo of JC Van Wyk and Brenton Williams are still in training for the Robben Island swim that takes place on 7 May. Both swimmers will be competing in the Bell Buoy Challenge in Port Elizabeth over the Easter weekend as a final preparation for one of the most extreme open water swims in the world.
The water temperature at Marina Martinique increased to 22 degrees today with the hot weather.
