When Love comes to Town

Excitement is building as legions of U2 fans get ready to travel to Johannesburg and Cape Town for the South African leg of the 360 tour.

The Irish rockers have come a long way since they brought a song like “Sunday Bloody Sunday” that became an anthem against injustice around the world. The Joshua Tree followed and ” I Still haven’t found  what I am Looking for” catapulted U2 up the musical ranks to being regarded as one of the best bands in the world.

This is the second time U2 will be performing in South Africa, after having toured here in 1998 as part of the Pop tour. Those lucky enough to have been at ’98 concerts have an inkling of what is in store for fans with tickets for the upcoming shows.
However, each tour U2 reinvent themselves and the upcoming concerts are no different. Huge LED screens, a revolving stage and a set named “the Claw” will greet fans with highly regarded local band Springbok Nude Girls being the opening act.
While Bono are crew may no longer have that raw energy of the Rattle and Hum days where the passions and energy were tangible, a U2 concert is an experience that will simply never be forgotten.  For a blast from the past take a look at Helter Skelter from the Rattle and Hum tour.
Fans can expect a mixture of old and new songs from U2 in the South African concerts with “Still haven’t found what I am Looking for” being used as the song to engage the audience throughout the Australian and European legs of the tour.
“‘With or Without You”, “Elevation”, “Mysterious Ways”, “Vertigo” and even “Love Rescue Me” (being played live for the first time in 21 years) all all on the expected play list with “Amazing Grace” and “Moment of Surrender’ ending the shows.
