South African wins 10 K swim at World Cup

Chad Ho, the number one ranked open water swimmer in the world over 10 Km dominated the FINA Marathon Swimming World Cup event in China over the weekend to claim his first major international victory.

Ho who has been in excellent form in 2010 and took silver in two 10 K World Cup swims earlier in the year, has been due a big win for a while now.

His winning time of 2:03:54 was enough to see off multiple World 10 K champ Thomas Lurz into second place. Ho has extended his lead on the 2010 world rankings and seems assured of being crowned World Champ at the end of the season, the first time ever that a South African has achieved this honour.

Chad took control of the race at around the 8 Km mark and built a lead that he held to the end. Lets hope this is the beginning of great things for Ho, building up to the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
