Secure your motor vehicles in J’Bay

The Jeffreys Bay Police have identifed that early Monday mornings and early evenings during the rest of the week are the times that motor vehicles are being stolen in Jeffreys Bay.

The suspected modus operandi is for suspects to be dropped off in J”Bay by out of town syndicates who then roam around looking for mainly older model bakkies to steal. Wavecrest is still the suburb most favoured by the car thieves. This is probably due to the easy access to both the R 102 and N2 highways, which facilitate an easy escape for the criminals.

Residents who live on the kloofs in Wavecrest are reporting activity after midnight in the kloofs. Barking dogs and the wildlife are being disturbed and the Community Police Forum (CPF) has taken the matter up with the local Police.

Colonel Ntsabo, the commander of the Jeffreys Bay Police says the crime of housebreakings is a priority crime for the Police and is receiving constant attention. “We need the help of the community to fight this crime”, said Ntsabo. “Report suspicious behaviour to either the Police or the CPF as the community is the eyes and the ears of the Police. We need to work together to eliminate this crime in our town”.

On a positive note the number of cases of assaults being reported to the Police has decreased. This is due to zero tolerance approach the Police and the community have taken to shebeens operating past closing time in Ocean View and Pellsrus.
