Rugby has held pride of place in the rural areas of South Africa and Jeffreys Bay is no exception. The local high school has a proud rugby tradition and is captained this year by a Jeffreys Bay local, Heinrich Du Toit who is in matric at Nico Malan.

The First team beat the touring English team 30 – 22 in a highly entertaining game of rugby. Nico Malan has had a good season thus far, beating traditional rivals Danier Pienaar 30 – 16 in an early season clash.

There were a few mixed results, going down to Despatch 11 -13 while a titanic struggle saw the local team narrowly lose to rugby power house Framesby by the narrow margin of 18 -22. There have been strong victories over Newton Tech (48 -10) as well as Andrew Rabie ( 59 – 0).
