South African open water swimmer Chad Ho finished just 15 seconds off the winner in the 5 K event at the World Open Water Swim Champs being held in Canada yesterday. The defending world champion Thomas Lurz from Germany won the event in a time of 57 minutes 42 seconds. Full results can be found here
Natalie Du Toit came ended up in 21 position in the women’s race which was won by Eva Fabian from America. Only 38 seconds separated Du Toit from the winner, which shows how little margin for error exists over these long distance swim events. Click here for the full results.

The gruelling 25 K swim takes place on Thursday. The Kouga Swim Club will be hosting the first ever 25 K swim in Marina Martinique on 22 December as part of the expanded Marina Mile program.
