Residents of Jeffreys Bay who have been hoping to spot the stars of Blue Crush 2 out and about in the town have been a bit disappointed. The cast and crew have been hard at work, even at night to finish the filming of the Hollywood blockbuster that is due for release in 2011.
Last night a scene was filmed at Lower Point, ironically almost on top of the original camping grounds that the surfers in the 1960’s and 1970’s used to live when Jeffreys Bay was first discovered to have the ‘Perfect Wave”. Sadly there are no more camping grounds right on the Point and the days of surfers living in the dunes have come and gone.

The directors are hoping to have all the filming wrapped up before the start of the Billabong Pro waiting period, which begins on 15 July. Then Jeffreys Bay can look forward to being a true Hollywood film venue in time to come.
