The highly active community association in Paradise Beach has been involved in ensuring their community is well looked after in Jeffreys Bay. They report that permission has been granted for a once off opening of the Zeekoei River Mouth should this become necessary due to the causeway becoming flooded.
The Kouga Municipality has made provision of R 2 ooo ooo for the upgrade of the causeway over the next two financial year’s but still has to find funding for the project.
On a positive note there have sightings of about 25 flamingo’s on the river. This birds used to adorn the river but disappeared for many years. For more information read here
