Lots of rain and strong winds have been forecast for Jeffreys Bay over the Easter weekend and motorists are urged to drive carefully when travelling.

A steep upper trough will develop along the west coast of SA between Thursday and Friday with a cold front passing through Port Elizabeth on late Thursday evening, followed by a surface high pressure system ridging in on Friday.

The upper trough then intensifies along the west coast, developing into a cut-off low by Saturday.

In the interim the surface high pressure system, will result in south easterly winds at low levels over the EC, while the cut-off low results in NW to NE winds at mid levels.

This will enhance the development of cloud and rainfall intensity.

An 80% chance of showers and thundershowers are forecasted over the western half of the Eastern Cape on Friday morning.

This will spread to the rest of the province during the day.

There is a chances of showers and thundershowers between 80% and 100% for Saturday and Sunday, over the entire province.

The first signs of clears will appear on Tuesday, with improvement gradually from the west.
