The Government’s annual Management Performance Assessment has for the second year running found that the Western Cape is the best managed Province in South Africa.
The report annually measures the performance of each provincial and national department and then aggregates scores per province and at national level.
The Western Cape scored best in each of the report’s 4 key performance areas:
- Strategic Management
- Governance and accountability
- Human resource and systems management
- Financial management.
The report was tabled and presented to the Portfolio Committees on Public Service and Administration and Performance Monitoring and Evaluation.
The North West Province ranked last, and Mpumalanga and Free State dropped by 5 positions.
