The Kouga Municipality has made an urgent appeal to those living in upper Wavecrest (the area from AD Keet and above) in Jeffreys Bay to use as little water as possible.
“Water usage is extremely high in this area and water is flowing from the reservoir faster than it can be filled up again. If this trend continues, there is a risk of the taps running dry,” said Laura-Leigh Randall from the Kouga Municipality.
“We realise that it is hot, but we ask that people put off watering their gardens, washing their cars and, eg, walls and paved areas till after the weekend when the pressure on the system should lessen,” added Randall.
The water supply to the remainder of Jeffreys Bay is fine.
