Sharp thinking by the Jeffreys Bay Police together with help from the local community saw two robbers arrested yesterday afternoon in C Place.

A woman was leaving her house in Nautilis Street when she was accosted by two men who grabbed her handbag and ran away.

The Jeffreys Bay Police Station was immediately informed who send out the patrol vehicles. The sector manager Warrant Officer (W/O) De Lange was patrolling with W/O Haywood and they instantly blocked off the normal escape route criminals use to get back to Ocean View.

Information from the community caused them to suspect that the suspects had moved back into C Place to avoid capture.

A search of C Place with the help of the policemen on the shift as well as community members saw the suspects being discovered hiding in a house in the suburb.

Two suspects were arrested and the women’s handbag was returned to her, with all the contents still intact.

W/O Haywood said that the information provided by the public helped them to narrow the search and find the suspects within half an hour of the incident occurring.
